End in the historic capital of Kharakhorum before returning to Ulaanbaatar. MAP & ITINERARY

Day 1. Sep 19. Arrival in Ulaanbaatar

Meet your guide at the airport, transfer to the hotel, and enjoy a welcome dinner. Overnight at hotel. (Hotel Bayangol or similar; D)

Day 2. Sep 20. Ulaanbaatar sightseeing

Explore Ulaanbaatar, visiting the Chinggis Khan Museum and Zanabazar’s Museum of Fine Arts, followed by a traditional music and dance performance in the evening. (Hotel Bayangol or similar; B, L, D)

Day 3. Sep 21. Hustai National Park

Visit Gandan Monastery before heading to Hustai National Park to see wild Przewalski’s horses. Stay with a nomadic family in a ger. (B, L, D)

Day 4. Sep 22. Experience Nomadic Lifestyle in Hustai

Experience nomadic life with horseback riding, herding, and making traditional dairy products. Rustic Ger Hostel (B, L, D)

Day 5. Sep 23. Khugnu Tarna National Park / Elsen Tasarkhai

Today, we will drive to the Khugnu Tarna National Park, Explore Ovgon Temple and the Elsen Tasarkhai dunes by camel. Stay in a ger camp. (B, L, D)

Day 6-7, Sep 24-25. Tsenkher Hot Springs

Relax in Tsenkher Hot Springs water in the outdoor pool and visit nomadic families. Optional horse riding. There will be wildlife and bird watching opportunities. Overnight in Ger camp(B, L, D)

Day 8. Sep 26. Visit Kharakhorum museum/ Erdene Zuu Temple

Discover the remains and legacy of Kharakhorum, ancient capital of Mongolian Empire and Erdene Zuu Monastery. Overnight in rustic ger hostel(B, L, D)

Day 9. Sep 27. Hiking and relaxing at Tovkhon Monastery

After breakfast, we will drive to the Tovkhon Monastery, where Zanabazar, renowned spiritual leader and artist, used as a meditation, spiritual retreat base. Spend the day hiking and exploring in the beautiful Khangai mountains and return to Kharakhorum. (Rustic Ger hostel; B, L, D)

Day 10. Sep 28. Return to Ulaanbaatar

After breakfast, drive back to Ulaanbaatar, for last-minute shopping, and enjoy a farewell dinner.  Overnight in Hotel ( Hotel Bayangol or similar; B, L, D)

Day 11, Sep 29, Departure

After breakfast transfer to the airport for your return flight home. (B)

PHOTOS & REVIEWS

We were welcomed to Mongolia by Mongolia Quest in Ulaanbaatar and taken on a wonderful tour of their country. We saw the wild horses, Tekhi in Hustai National Park, Stayed in Gers in the original capital of the Mongol Empire, Karakorum and the Gobi Desert. We visited herder families and saw their way of life and toured religious shrines and temples. A very well organized trip that I will never forget. We are planning to return and will contact Mongolia Quest to plan our next visit.
