TRIP SUMMARY

Join our expert-led archaeological expedition to uncover the mysteries of Mongolia’s ancient civilizations. This exclusive research trip, guided by renowned Mongolian archaeologist Dr. Iderkhangai Tumur-Ochir, will take you to a newly discovered burial site in Selenge province—one of the most significant archaeological finds in recent years.

This site presents a groundbreaking discovery: burials from three distinct historical periods—the Late Bronze Age (Slab Grave Culture), the Xiongnu Empire, and the Xianbei period—all interwoven within the same burial ground. This rare phenomenon provides a unique opportunity to explore the deep cultural connections and genealogical ties between these civilizations.

More than two millennia ago, the Xiongnu Empire (Hunnu in Mongolian) emerged as a powerful confederation of nomads in present-day Mongolia, marking the foundation of the nation’s history. As their ancestors, the Xiongnu dominated Central Asia and even forged a “peace and kinship treaty” with the Han Dynasty. This expedition offers an unparalleled chance to delve into the rich histories of the Xiongnu, Xianbei, and their predecessors while actively contributing to groundbreaking research.
