TRIP SUMMARY

The city of Ulaanbaatar offers a variety of shopping opportunities from fixed souvenir stores to small studios of artists.  Our first stop is at the State Department Store, Mongolia’s oldest souvenir shop. Next, we will visit a musical instrument-making studio located in the ger district of Ulaanbaatar. Here, instruments such as horses headed fiddle are made. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Next, we will visit a local jewelry store and learn about Mongolia’s silverware. Our last stop is at the Gobi Cashmere Factory Stop, offering a great selection of fine cashmere products, ranging from a full size blankets to scarves and gloves.

  • In the morning, meet your guide and visit the State Department store to discover what type of souvenirs are made.
  • Next, visit a small factory that produces musical instruments in the city’s northern part. Here the legendary horse-headed fiddle is made by specially trained artists.
  • After this visit, we will drive to downtown Ulaanbaatar to enjoy lunch.
  • Then, visit a jewelry store to check out Mongolia’s silversmith’s work.
  • Our last stop is at the Gobi Cashmere factory. In the late afternoon, transfer back to your hotel. End of service. (L)
